This IN PERSON 6-week, hands-on course will teach you to make your own quilt from start to finish while simultaneously teaching you the rich historical traditions of quilting and what has become a “language” among quilters. During the 6 weeks, you will make your very own art quilt, starting with patchwork piecing to finally hand quilting and binding. It can be hung as décor or even used as a hot pad in your kitchen. No matter how you use your piece, you will leave this class equipped to make your own patterns and achieve quilts that you dream up or copy a pattern on a beloved quilt that your grandmother made with her own hands. Knowing the foundations means that the sky is the limit. I’ll provide all the supplies, you bring yourself. I hope you are ready to be inspired and take part in this rich, heirloom tradition that has provided comfort and warmth and beauty within homes for centuries.
No prior experience is needed. This class will teach a true beginner and it will enrich the novice quilter.
We will meet once a week in my studio (316) at Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment, each Wednesday from 5-7 pm - starting Wednesday, September 30th and ending Wednesday, November 4th.
